The purpose of the Drill Team at SPHS JROTC is to create leaders, instill self-discipline, move a unit from one place to another in an orderly manner, enhance esprit dé corps, and WIN! Drill & Ceremony is the foundation of every successful unit in the United States Military as well as in JROTC.
The Drill Team Competes at local JROTC Drill Meets during the months of February and March. Members of the Drill Team become experts in Drill and Ceremony from the individual level to the Platoon level. The Spartan Drill Team competes in the following categories at Drill Meets:

Cadets who successfully complete two consecutive Drill Team seasons, have a B average in JROTC, remain academically eligible, meet practice requirements, participate in the Area or State Drill Meets, and have not served cumulative ISS/OSS days exceeding five days will be awarded the South Paulding Athletic Letter.
